Welcome to Schmidt's and Serafine's Garden Shop!
As the oldest hardware store in Waterbury, Connecticut, we have a long history of helping our community nurture lush, beautiful gardens. Whether your focus is flowers or edibles, annuals or perennials, curb-appeal or self-sufficiency, we have what you need. We’ve got essentials from little packages of the tiniest seeds to hand tools like rakes and clippers, as well as the outdoor power equipment you rely on for big jobs, like chainsaws, string trimmers and more.
If a beautiful lawn is your pride and joy, we can help! We’ve got lawn mowers of every description, watering supplies, aerators, and more.
We’ve also got great ways to enjoy your beautiful outdoor area, including patio furniture, lounge chairs, doormats, and really awesome grills for those summer barbeques.

Annuals
Annual flowers are quick and easy ways to add a vibrant pop of color to every garden. Most of the goodies in your vegetable garden are annuals as well. Come check out our selection of young potted annuals, as well as our big selection of flower and vegetable seeds.
Perennials
Perennials form the backbone of your landscaping. These garden stalwarts may lose leaves in the winter or they may be evergreen but either way, they’ll stick around year after year to provide structure and visual interest to your garden. Some have showy flowers, some have attractive leaves or a striking posture, and some might even bear fruit, year after year. (Hello, blueberries!)
